Practice, practice, practice......

Yeah, the old joke says it is the way to get to Kennedy Center and lots of places. But it is also the only way to get better at something, especially when your goal is to become an instructor at that thing.

I hope to some day be a CCI, Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructor, and have plans to attend the Southern Council's Conclave and take the CCI test there. Some of you know that I hope to be a guide when I retire and I think this is a big feather in the cap of a guide.

So what do you do when practicing? Cast, cast and cast some more. Things that you focus on are loop control, accuracy and distance. The nice thing about it is that as you begin to cast and be more comfortable it becomes more and more fun! Being able to make the line do what you want is a great feeling, and helpful on the water.

If you are interested in what this will take here is the link to the FFF Education information, FFF Certified Casting Instructors Page.

So that is what I did tonight after work. And it felt great. If you haven't yet I highly suggest taking lessons from a CCI and getting some help with your casting.

Alright, what about some fish porn?

This is a beautiful 16" brown trout I caught in Steamboat this year. He was in a riffle near the confluence of the Yampa and Fish Creek Falls. I love catching wild fish.

Alright, not really fish porn but river porn. LMF river at Old Park Dam. I love being there and especially at the right time to see this!
